Insolent and smitten - HMRC meet Jean-Paul Sartre

An exchange of Words (with Jean-Paul Sartre)

In this project HMRC have taken Jean-Paul Sartre’s book Words as reading material and responded to the text in ways that seem to express reading behaviour that Roland Barthes calls ‘insolent in that it interrupts the text, and smitten in that it keeps returning to it’.[1]

Location visit

Art Language Location takes place across Cambridge from October 15th to November 2nd. In preparation for our involvement, we took a trip to Cambridge.

HMRCollective will be performing in the English Faculty Library on October 25th. There will also be an installation in the library for the duration of A:L:L
